Indian startup space company Skyroot Aerospace successfully test upper stage rocket engine “RAMAN”

Skyroot Aerospace is a Hyderabad based startup established in 2018. It was established by previous ISRO researchers Pawan Kumar Chandana and Naga Bharath Daka. The organization is taking a shot at its ‘Vikram’ scope of rockets, and they’re preparing to send satellites into space by mid-2021.

On Aug.12 Skyroot Aerospace announced there successful test firing of there Vikram-1 launch vehicle’s upper stage engine “RAMAN”.
Skyroot Aerospace claimed that their 3D-printed rocket engine, named Raman after the legendary Indian scientist and Nobel laureate Dr CV Raman, is capable of multiple restarts, enabling the launch vehicle to insert various satellites into multiple orbits in a single mission.
“We demonstrated India’s first 100% 3D-printed bi-propellant liquid rocket engine injector. Compared to traditional manufacturing, this reduced the overall mass by 50%, reduced the total number of components and lead time by 80%,” Chandana founder of Skyroot Aerospace Company said.
Test fires of two full stages of its rocket under development, to take place over the course of the next six months. he added.
Skyroot’s Vikram-1 launch vehicle is in development and aiming for there first test flight by December 2021.
“We are already in active discussions with ISRO for testing activities. We look forward to utilizing ISROs launch ranges for our launch,” he added.
They are also working concurrently on there other 2 models Vikram-2 and Vikarm-3 and aiming to launch to test sometime around 2022-2023.
They have raised Rs 31.5 crore to date and is in the process of securing another Rs 90 crore by 2021.
